Giga Chikadze passed his biggest test to date with flying colors.

Faced with a talented fellow striker in Edson Barboza at UFC on ESPN 30, Chikadze showcased his superior standup skills, winning via technical knockout at the 1:44 mark of Round 3. While Chikadze elevates himself into another tier of contenders at 145 pounds, Barboza sees a modest two-bout winning streak snapped in defeat.

7: Consecutive victories for Chikadze, tying him with reigning champion Alexander Volkanovski for the second-longest winning streak in the UFC featherweight division. Only Arnold Allen (eight) has a longer streak at 145 pounds.

3: Straight KO/TKO wins for Chikadze in UFC competition. In addition to Barboza, “Ninja” owns technical knockout triumphs against Jamey Simmons and Cub Swanson.

.770: Significant striking accuracy for Chikadze in Round 3, when he landed 21 of 27 attempts en route to the stoppage victory.

2: Knockdowns landed by Chikadze in the decisive third frame. The Georgian fighter has landed six knockdowns during his UFC tenure.

60: Significant strikes landed by Chikadze. By comparison, Barboza landed 33. Chikadze outlanded his opponent 17 to 10 in Round 1, 22 to 19 in Round 2 and 21 to 4 in Round 3.

201: Total strikes landed by Ricky Turcios in a decision win over Brady Hiestand in the “TUF 29” bantamweight final. By comparison, Hiestand landed 82. Turcios also held a 100-to-66 advantage in signficant strikes landed.

6: Takedowns landed in 11 attempts by Hiestand, the most of anyone at UFC on ESPN 30. Hiestand grounded his opponent twice in every frame.

120: Significant strikes landed by Daniel Rodriguez in a decision win against Kevin Lee at welterweight. “D-Rod” spoiled Lee’s 170-pound debut by getting stronger as the bout progressed, outlanding his foe 16 to 13 in Round 1, 51 to 23 in Round 2 and 53 to 20 in Round 3.

3: Takedowns landed in seven attempts for Lee. However, “The Motown Phenom” managed only 3:34 of control time in the 15-minute bout and was largely outgunned on the feet.

29: Significant ground strikes landed by Andre Petroski in a third-round technical knockout of Michael Gillmore at middleweight. By comparison, Gillmore landed just three significant strikes on the canvas. Petroski landed 17 significant ground strikes in the third frame, when he battered his opponent with elbows for a stoppage at the 3:12 mark.

8: Finishes in UFC competition for Gerald Meerschaert, tying him for the fourth most in the history of the middleweight division. Meerschaert overcome a rough opening frame to submit Makhmud Muradov with a rear-naked choke at the 1:49 mark of Round 2 in a featured bout on Saturday.

7: KO/TKO victories in less than a minute for Abdul Razak Alhassan, who dispatched Alessio Di Chirico with a head kick in the opening round of their middleweight tilt. That halted a three-bout skid for the man known as “Judo Thunder.”

3: Knockouts in less than a minute in UFC competition for Alhassan. He joins Anthony Johnson, Vitor Belfort, Mike Swick, Johny Hendricks, Stipe Miocic, and Francis Ngannou as the only men to accomplish the feat.

0:17: Time of Alhassan’s finish, the fastest head-kick knockout in UFC middleweight history. Nikita Krylov

0-6-1: Record in UFC bouts for Sam Alvey dating back to September 2018. Alvey lost a bizarre split decision to Wellington Turman despite his opponent receiving two point deductions for eye pokes in the third frame.

.600: Significant striking accuracy for Dustin Jacoby in a TKO win over Darren Stewart that occurred at the 3:04 mark of Round 1. Jacoby landed 37 of 61 attempts in an efficient performance that prompted referee Jason Herzog to intervene with Stewart reeling while on his feet.

93: Significant strikes landed by J.J. Aldrich in a three-round verdict against Vanessa Demopoulos at flyweight. That’s the second most landed by Aldrich in her nine-bout promotional tenure behind the 98 she landed in a win over Chanmi Jeon at UFC Fight Night 110. Demopoulos landed 70 significant strikes in defeat.

10: Career submission triumphs among 15 professional victories for Pat Sabatini, who tapped Jamal Emmers with a heel hook in the opening round of their featherweight clash. The Renzo Gracie Philly representative owns three career wins via heel hook.

13: UFC bouts ending via leg lock from 2018 to the present day, including Sabatini’s finish. That figure has risen significantly from the previous four years, when only three bouts ended by leg lock from 2014 to 2017.

16: Difference in age between Leomana Martinez (25) and Guido Cannetti (41), the largest discrepancy on Saturday’s card. Martinez defeated Cannetti via split decision in his Octagon debut.

31: Significant body strikes landed by Martinez. By comparison. Cannetti landed 13. “Ninja” focused more on the lower half, outlanding Martinez by a 32-to-13 count in significant leg strikes. Overall, Martinez outlanded Cannetti 79 to 66 in significant strikes. Advertisement
