The Legacy Fighting Alliance on Friday planted its flag in New Mexico for the first time with LFA 58, promoting a card with some incredible knockouts and fun fights. The event featured an early “Knockout of the Year” contender, an unlucky LFA competitor finally earning his first win and a fair bit of controversy that might find two fighters running it back soon.

KNEEPOCALYPSE: With two bouts ending by knockout from knees, LFA 58 tied LFA 52 for the most knee-related knockout victories at an event in promotional history.

FEELING OUT PROCESS: The first four bouts at LFA 58 all went the distance, tying four other events for the most consecutive decisions. It joined LFA 46 as the only other event to open with four straight unanimous decisions.

GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE: LFA 58 also joined LFA 46 as the only other event in the organization’s history to feature at least four stoppages without a single submission.

THE PREVIOUS PLAY IS UNDER REVIEW: Although Harvey Park knocked out Jaleel Willis with a knee and follow-up punches in the main event, the knee appears to have been illegal, as Willis was grounded. The New Mexico Athletic Commission may review the result, and Willis also claimed on the broadcast that he was considering an appeal. If overturned to a no-contest, it would be the second no-contest in LFA history.

JOBALANCED: After picking up a decision win over Demetrius Wilson, Joby Sanchez now holds 12 victories in his career: four by knockout, four by submission and four by decision.

OH, DONNIE: Donald Sanchez became one of a small number of fighters to ever compete in the LFA, Legacy Fighting Championship and Resurrection Fighting Alliance. In losing by controversial knockout to Fernando Padilla, he became the first fighter to ever drop bouts inside all three promotions.

WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE: With 19 losses coming into his bout with Padilla, Sanchez held as many losses as the other nine fighters from the final five bouts combined.

CALLING SPORTSCENTER: By obliterating Vince Fricilone with a flying knee in 40 seconds, Luiz Antonio Lobo Gavinho scored the second flying knee knockout in LFA history.

NO JUDGES NECESSARY: After 13 pro bouts, Gavinho has still never reached the scorecards, win or lose. He maintained his 100 percent finish rate after earning his ninth finish. Eight of those nine stoppages have come by knockout.

ABOUT TIME: Maicon Mendonca lost his first three bouts in the organization at LFA 11, LFA 24 and LFA 30. In upsetting the undefeated Joshua Moreno, Mendonca became the second LFA fighter -- Bilal Williams was the first -- to start off by losing three LFA bouts before winning his fourth with the organization.

WHEN YOU MISS, YOU PAY: After Henry Barahona missed weight by 1.8 pounds and then dropped a decision to Natan Levy, eight of the last nine fighters to miss weight have lost their bouts inside the LFA cage. The only heavy fighter who won in that span was Devin Miller at LFA 55, as came in 2.2 pounds over his 130-pound catchweight limit against Raul Garcia.

NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN: Coming into LFA 58, Moreno had never been defeated (four fights), Willis (10 fights) and Fricilone (nine fights) had never been finished and Wilson had never lost by decision (seven fights).
