O’Reilly swept the Black House rep off his feet and moved towards the back during an early exchange. However, Jouban escaped to his feet, freed himself from the clinch and went to work in close quarters. Punches, knees and elbows all penetrated the Australian’s defenses. Jouban doubled up on standing elbows, drove O’Reilly to the canvas and finished it with punches.

Smith Hands Nakai Second Straight Defeat
Invicta Fighting Championships veteran Leslie Smith captured a unanimous verdict from former Pancrase champion Rin Nakai in a preliminary women’s bantamweight tilt. All three cageside judges saw it for Smith (8-6-1, 2-2 UFC): 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.
Nakai (16-2-1, 0-2 UFC) had issues navigating the eight-inch height and nearly six-inch reach disadvantages with which she was faced. Smith peppered her with punches from the outside, withstood her advances in the clinch and rattled her more than once with uppercuts. Nakai executed a pair of takedowns in the second round and locked down an arm-triangle choke, only to see the Cesar Gracie protégé escape back to her feet. Once there, Smith was clearly the superior fighter.
Andrade Sinks Reeling Walsh
“The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” Season 2 semifinalist Viscardi Andrade fought through fatigue and a second-round knockdown to best Richard Walsh by unanimous decision in a three-round pairing at 170 pounds. Andrade (19-6, 3-1 UFC) swept the scorecards with 29-28 marks across the board, as he won for the ninth time in 10 fights.
Walsh (9-4, 2-3 UFC) saw his best chance come and go in round two, where he floored the Brazilian with a counter right hook and followed up with standing-to-ground punches. Andrade was on wobbly legs for much of the frame but survived, cleared his head and extended the bout. The 32-year-old mixed in takedowns, caught Walsh off-guard with level changes and bled the clock with suffocating work from the top. Andrade put the final touches on the victory in the closing seconds of the third round, as he secured another takedown and trapped the Australian beneath him.
The 27-year-old Walsh has lost three of his last four fights.
Pearson Edges Tristar’s Laprise
“The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 winner Ross Pearson escaped with a split decision over Tristar Gym export Chad Laprise in their preliminary lightweight clash. Scores were 30-27 and 29-28 for Pearson, 30-28 for Laprise. Neither man separated himself across the three-round confrontation.
Pearson (19-10, 11-7 UFC) utilized damaging leg kicks, leaping left hooks, stabbing jabs and occasional counterpunches. Evidence of his work was emblazoned on the inside of Laprise’s lead leg, which was grotesquely discolored and swollen. The Canadian answered with stout punching combinations that were often punctuated with kicks, some of which grazed Pearson’s head. Laprise (10-2, 3-2 UFC) closed with a strong third round but did not do enough in the eyes of the judges.
The 31-year-old Pearson has alternated wins and losses in each of his past eight outings.
Alves Stifles Newcomer Brown
Repeated takedowns and a stifling top game lifted X-Gym’s Alan Patrick Silva Alves to a unanimous decision over Damien Brown in a three-round undercard battle at 155 pounds. All three cageside judges scored it for Alves (13-1, 3-1 UFC): 30-27, 30-27 and 30-26.
Brown (15-9, 0-1 UFC) spent most of the 15-minute fight pinned to the mat. Alves executed takedowns in all three rounds, applied his ground-and-pound and tried a few submissions, including guillotines, a brabo choke and an arm-triangle. While none of his attempts proved fruitful, he maintained control throughout the match.
The loss snapped Brown’s five-fight winning streak.
