Daniel Jolly vs. Misha Cirkunov

Round 1

Cirkunov dodges a few high kicks from his fellow southpaw, then swings and misses with a big left hook as Jolly ducks underneath. Jolly goes under a high kick from Cirkunov and comes back upstairs to sock the Latvian with a short right hand. Cirkunov clinches up and trips Jolly to the ground, then moves straight to side control. Jolly bucks and scrambles underneath, nearly working his way back to his feet near the fence before he’s dragged back down. Cirkunov tries a north-south choke, but Jolly puts his feet on the cage and kicks his way out of it. With Jolly on his knees, Cirkunov moves to riding position and then tries to jump on the American’s back. Jolly stands and dumps Cirkunov to the ground, and now it’s Jolly’s turn to take top position midway through the opening frame. Cirkunov keeps an active and high guard, prompting Jolly to stand. Back on the feet, Cirkunov walks down Jolly toward the fence and appears to hurt the “Werewolf of Texas” with a flurry of punches. Another clinch takedown scores for Cirkunov, this time landing him in full mount. He tries to control Jolly’s wrists, but Jolly yanks his arms free and rolls to his knees, giving up his back with just over one minute remaining. Cirkunov sits up in back-mount and begins sending some hard punches underneath Jolly’s arm. The ground-and-pound keeps coming from Cirkunov, who lands 20 or more punches with no retaliation. Referee Jerin Valel tells Jolly to fight back; when he does not, Valel steps in to halt the bout.

The Official Result

Misha Cirkunov def. Daniel Jolly via KO (Punches) R1 4:45

Shane Campbell vs. Elias Silverio

Round 1

Silverio grabs a kick from Campbell and drags him to the ground, but the Canadian is able to scramble back to his feet in a few seconds. Silverio keeps hold of Campbell’s waist, shoves him against the fence and tries to jump on his back. Campbell keeps his balance until Silverio kicks away from the cage, his momentum carrying both lightweights to the canvas. Silverio passes to half guard, drops a few short punches and gets put back in Campbell’s full, open guard. Campbell tries to find some space with butterfly guard but can’t elevate the heavy Silverio very far. Halfway through the round, Silverio stands over his prone opponent and tries to dive back in with punches, but Campbell is the taller man and threatens with long upkicks to avoid any damage. Silverio opts to come back down to Campbell’s open guard, then jumps on his back when Campbell tries to scramble up. Silverio is attached to Campbell’s back, slugging with punches as the final minute ticks down. Campbell absorbs the strikes, postures up and shakes Silverio off his back, then escapes to his feet inside the 30-second mark. Silverio follows and shoots for a takedown, but Campbell fends it off and feeds the Brazilian a couple hard knees late in the round.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Silverio
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Silverio
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Silverio

Round 2

The lightweights trade kicks back and forth early in the round, with Silverio attacking the body while Campbell goes to the legs. A low kick from Silverio chops the legs out from under Campbell, and when “Shaolin” scrambles back to his feet, Silverio is waiting to wrap him on the fence. When Silverio tries to jump to back-mount, Campbell leans over and shakes “Xuxu” to the ground. Silverio sits up and rushes forward to shoot again, but Campbell denies this one as well. Campbell tags Silverio with a standing elbow and then thwarts another takedown; this time, Campbell comes down to the ground and lands atop Silverio. Midway through the round and the fight, the action slows on the ground as Campbell concentrates on holding down his opponent. Silverio tries to scramble up and gets caught in a front headlock. Campbell releases and backs up to tag Silverio with a right hand, then digs an underhook and shoves the Brazilian away on yet another takedown attempt. Campbell tries a shot of his own and easily runs Silverio to the ground, then turns the corner to take his back. Silverio fends off any submission attempts but eats some hard shots from Campbell punching over the shoulder.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Campbell
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Campbell
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Campbell

Round 3

Campbell takes a leg kick from Silverio and gives him three hard kicks in return. The Canadian looks to be the fresher of the two fighters, as Silverio draws deep breaths and misses with his punches. Silverio shoots for a takedown, runs Campbell against the fence but can’t pull him to the ground. Campbell threatens with a headlock, stands and then grabs for Silverio’s arm. Silverio trips him to the ground with just over three minutes remaining and jumps on Campbell’s back to sink a single hook. The cage is blocking Silverio’s hook on the right side, and Campbell turns against the fence to scrape the Brazilian off completely. Campbell lands a few good elbows over his shoulder, while Silverio is just hanging onto his opponent’s back as the final two minutes tick down. Campbell spins around, changes levels and hits a takedown of his own, but Silverio gets right back to his feet. They separate, Campbell connects with a right hand, then Silverio drives him against the cage again. Campbell reverses the takedown attempt and shoves “Xuxu” to the ground. Silverio uses a long guard and wrist control to prevent any ground-and-pound from Campbell, but “Shaolin” breaks free with 20 seconds left and connects with a couple good punches before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Campbell (29-28 Campbell)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Campbell (29-28 Campbell)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Campbell (29-28 Campbell)

The Official Result

Shane Campbell def. Elias Silverio via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) R3 5:00

Chris Kelades vs. Chris Beal

Round 1

Beal takes the center of the cage and presses outward with a pair of punches, but Kelades ducks underneath and wraps up Beal for a takedown attempt. Beal fights off the Canadian, reverses the takedown and trips Kelades to the ground at the base of the fence. It’s half guard for Beal, then posturing up over Kelades to connect with a hard, quick flurry of punches. Beal kneels down in Kelades’ guard again, passes to half and begins framing up an arm-triangle choke. Kelades breaks the position and elbows Beal on the ribs, then hits Beal’s legs with half a dozen quick heel strikes. Beal maintains top position, passes to full mount and slugs Kelades with a few hard punches, causing Kelades to give up his back. Beal tries to roll with Kelades but loses the back-mount and then cannot keep hold of Kelades when the Canadian bursts back to his feet. Kelades tries to run down Beal with a takedown attempt of his own, but Beal sprawls and then forces Kelades to the canvas. Kelades puts him in full guard, but Beal sits up and drives forward with a solid elbow to the mouth.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Beal
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Beal
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Beal

Round 2

Beal backs out of the way of Kelades’ opening salvo and strikes back with a left cross, then sticks a jab. Beal shuts down a high double-leg attempt but eats a Kelades knee behind it. Kelades is bouncing on his toes, looking fresher than Beal, now 90 seconds into round two, but Beal clearly has the power advantage when his punches land. Kelades eats a shot and goes shooting again, this time putting Beal against the cage with a single-leg. Beal defends the takedown but can’t get his back off the fence. When Beal does escape the clinch, Kelades chases after him at full speed, swinging wild punches and kicks along the way. Now it’s Beal’s turn to try a takedown, and though he does manage to bring down Kelades, it’s the Canadian who winds up on top in the scramble thanks to a front headlock. Beal fights off the headlock from his knees, pushes back to his feet and socks Kelades with a pair of punches. Kelades fires back, scoring his best punches of the fight in the closing second and forcing Beal to backpedal away from the offense.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Beal
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Kelades
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Kelades

Round 3

After an inactive opening minute, Kelades powers into a takedown near the fence. Beal sweeps almost immediately and winds up in Kelades’ open guard, where the Canadian tries to mount some offense with elbows from the bottom. Beal winds up and misses with a big hammer fist, then has to trap Kelades against the cage as the “Greek Assassin” tries to stand. Halfway through the round, Beal turns the corner and takes Kelades’ back, but it happens just as Kelades stands up. Kelades is able to break Beal’s grip but is leaking blood from his hairline as he gets up. Now it’s Kelades chasing after Beal, trying to reclaim some ground. Kelades sprawls on a shot from Beal and touches him with a long right hand after they stand. A body kick scores for Kelades, then a hard right on the end of a one-two. Beal is backing up to the fence as the fight enters its final minute. Beal is trying to keep Kelades at bay with his longer reach, but Kelades gets inside to connect with a couple nice hooks. Beal catches a kick and decks Kelades with a left hand in the last 30 seconds. Both flyweights step into the pocket and swing for the fences as time expires. This one will be decided by the judges, and it could go to either man.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Beal (30-27 Beal)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Beal (29-28 Beal)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Beal (29-28 Beal)

The Official Result

Chris Kelades def. Chris Beal via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 27-30) R3 5:00

Marcos Rogerio de Lima vs. Nikita Krylov

Round 1

Krylov opens with a body kick on de Lima’s right side, then a straight right hand on the other. The Brazilian catches Krylov running in, catches him in a guillotine and jumps guard, but Krylov frees his head and catches de Lima rolling over, then tries to secure his back. De Lima shakes him off, grabs another guillotine and pulls guard again. This one looks tight, and Krylov appears close to tapping before he gets an arm between himself and de Lima. The Ukranian again escapes the choke, then a kneebar, and tries to take the back; this time, Krylov succeeds in securing the position, albeit with the help of a cage grab. Almost immediately, Krylov applies a rear-naked choke and forces a tap from de Lima.

The Official Result

Nikita Krylov def. Marcos Rogerio de Lima via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R1 2:29

Yves Jabouin vs. Felipe Arantes

Round 1

Jabouin swings heavy punches to back up Arantes against the fence, then changes levels and slams the Brazilian prospect to the ground. Straight to side control on the right side goes Jabouin, striking the side of Arantes’ head with a few short elbows while working to maintain cross-side control. Arantes uses his right arm to hook between Jabouin’s legs and sweep him over the top, but the reversal doesn’t last long as Jabouin tosses his opponent right back to the mat. Jabouin prevents another standup midway through the round, but Arantes is able to regain closed guard in the process. Arantes is looking to his corner for advice while Jabouin buries his head in the Brazilian’s chest and bears down. Jabouin is given a brief scare by “Sertanejo” in the form of an armbar attempt, but the Canadian slams his way free. Arantes catches Jabouin with an upkick, then swings his legs around to try another armbar. This time, Jabouin freezes and gets rolled onto his back, where Arantes is able to isolate the right arm and extend the armbar. Jabouin taps out, and referee Yves Lavigne calls a halt to the bout.

The Official Result

Felipe Arantes def. Yves Jabouin via Submission (Armbar) R1 4:21

Sam Stout vs. Frankie Perez

Round 1

Perez opens with an outside leg kick, then drops to a knee when Stout gives him a return shot to the lead leg. Back up comes Perez to touch Stout with a right hand, but it’s Stout pressing forward, moving Perez backward toward the fence. Suddenly, Perez uncorks a beautiful right hand to the jaw of Stout, who immediately drops to the ground and rolls to his back. Perez is all over his downed opponent, swarming the dazed Stout with jackhammer ground-and-pound that forces referee Herb Dean into action.

The Official Result

Frankie Perez def. Sam Stout via TKO (Punches) R1 0:54

Maryna Moroz vs. Valerie Letourneau

Round 1

Letourneau lands a leg kick and a jab in the opening 30 seconds, but Moroz catches a kick behind them and slugs back with a right hand down the middle. Letourneau touches the Ukranian with another right, but neither woman is giving an inch as they continue to circle in the center. A left high kick from Letourneau touches Moroz’s face, and the Canadian tags her with an uppercut shortly afterward. A body kick and a right hand send Moroz crashing to the ground, where Letourneau pounces and sets up in side control on her opponent’s right side. Moroz brings her legs up, looking to snare Letourneau’s head or arm, but the longer Letourneau stays clear of trouble midway through the round. Letourneau is staying high and heavy, keeping Moroz pinned to the ground, but Moroz manages to get her legs high enough to trap Letourneau’s head. Only her head is caught, so Letourneau isn’t in danger of the inverted triangle at the moment, but Moroz is trying to stretch out an armbar underneath as well. Letourneau drives a few knees to the body, then concentrates on defending the submission for most of the final minute.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Letourneau
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Letourneau
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Letourneau

Round 2

Moroz looks to have recovered as round two begins, firing body kicks at Letourneau in the opening minute. She comes down the center to stick a right hand but can’t find Letourneau with the three or four punches behind it. Moroz counters a body kick with a pair of speedy punches over the top, and Letourneau comes away from the exchange grabbing at her already swollen right eye. Moroz is mixing her strikes well this round, keeping Letourneau guessing with body and head shots. Letourneau is doing well to counter Moroz’s kicks, however, and the Canadian shows her strength when Moroz tries to clinch up. Moroz throws a reaching overhand right and gets caught with a counter hook that sweeps her out of the pocket. When Moroz waves Letourneau foward, Letourneau takes a step back and shuffles her feet. Letourneau lands a kick to the body, but a few seconds later, Moroz stings her with a whipping right hand. Letourneau saves herself by catching a body kick behind it, but Moroz hops on one leg to sock Letourneau with a few clean right hands. Letourneau comes away from the exchange with both eyes swollen, and it’s back to the middle with 30 seconds left. Letourneau gets the better of the final moments with a series of stiff jabs to close out a much tighter round.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Moroz
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Moroz
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Moroz

Round 3

Moroz opens the round with a jab and gets backed up with a kick to the body. Letourneau comes over the top with a right and then trips Moroz to the ground near the center of the cage. Moroz leans right, grabbing for Letourneau’s left arm to try a kimura, but nothing is there. As Letourneau postures up to throw short left hands, Moroz begins opening her guard, readying to angle for the armbar. Two minutes in, Letourneau remains on top, giving Moroz no space to work underneath. Moroz tries rubber guard, can’t hold it, and switches to throwing elbows from the bottom. Letourneau absorbs a few shots before trying to pass guard. Moroz not only keeps her in guard but nearly catches her in a triangle choke. Letourneau stands up and shakes her off, and the strawweights are back on their feet with 70 seconds remaining. A jab lands for Letourneau, then an uppercut for Moroz, who is still bouncing on her toes at the final horn despite offering only scattered offense in the last minute.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Letourneau (29-28 Letourneau)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Letourneau (29-28 Letourneau)

Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Tony Sims

Round 1

Sims cuts angles around the perimeter as the southpaws feel out the range in the first 30 seconds. Aubin-Mercier shoots first and drives Sims against the fence with a single-leg, then switches to complete the takedown with a double. The Canadian triangles Sims’ legs and tries to flatten him out, but Sims gets the limbs free and takes a knee up against a cage post. As soon as Sims climbs to his feet, Aubin-Mercier lifts him with a high double, carries him across the cage and deposits Sims away from his corner. Aubin-Mercier whips around to take Sims’ back and begins fishing for a rear-naked choke with three minutes still on the clock. Aubin-Mercier gets his right arm around Sims’ chin and tries to finish with a neck crank, but Sims peels the hand away and escapes danger for the moment. Aubin-Mercier’s hands are all over Sims’ face, just searching for an opening, trying to catch Sims leaving his neck exposed. Sims defends ably, but Aubin-Mercier remains on his back with a tight body triangle. Referee Yves Lavigne warns Sims for grabbing inside Aubin-Mercier’s gloves as he fights off the RNC. Aubin-Mercier rolls Sims away from the fence with 40 seconds left and ups his aggression hunting for the submission. Sims keeps defending but nonetheless finishes the round with Aubin-Mercier on his back.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Aubin-Mercier
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Aubin-Mercier
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Aubin-Mercier

Round 2

Aubin-Mercier shoots a high double and gets underhooked by Sims, who avoids the takedown by shoving the Canadian aside. The next time Aubin-Mercier shoots, Sims tries a headlock, then quickly abandons it. Aubin-Mercier dumps him to the ground, nearly takes the back but loses it as Sims scrambles back to his feet. Ninety seconds in, it’s another takedown for Aubin-Mercier, once again at the base of the fence. Sims holds Aubin-Mercier in guard, kicks him away and jumps to his feet, but Aubin-Mercier shoots straight back in for a takedown against the fence. Aubin-Mercier scores his fifth takedown with 2:15 on the clock, but Sims is back up 30 seconds later. Sims isn’t free for long before Aubin-Mercier comes shooting again, holding the American on the cage with a single-leg. “The Quebec Kid” completes the takedown with a second effort and postures up in Sims’ open guard to rough him up with left hands to the body and grinding forearms. There’s not much from Aubin-Mercier on top in the last minute, but there’s even less from Sims underneath.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Aubin-Mercier
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Aubin-Mercier
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Aubin-Mercier

Round 3

Aubin-Mercier eats a right hand from Sims to get inside and grab a single-leg. The Canadian tries to pick Sims’ ankle as they move toward the fence, but Sims stays standing and tries to turn the corner to take Aubin-Mercier’s back. Aubin-Mercier drops to his knees, still grabbing for Sims’ leg, and now Sims opens up with his best offense of the fight, a series of hammer fists and elbows to the side of Aubin-Mercier’s head. Aubin-Mercier succeeds in rolling Sims to his behind, then latches on to a double-leg. Sims tries to explode to his feet and has his back taken on the feet, but Aubin-Mercier can’t maintain the position as Sims slips away. Halfway through the final round, Aubin-Mercier shoots for a takedown and Sims pulls guard with a loose guillotine. Aubin-Mercier slips out as soon as they hit the ground, then passes to side control on Sims’ left side. Sims rolls to his knees and has his back taken, and Aubin-Mercier secures the position with a body triangle. Sims buries his chin as Aubin-Mercier tries to snake his right arm underneath for the rear-naked choke. Sims continues to do well fighting off the choke as they enter the final minute. Aubin-Mercier peppers Sims with punches from the back in the closing moments.

Sherdog Scores

Chad Laprise vs. Francisco Trinaldo

Round 1

The southpaw Trinaldo blocks a pair of early high kicks from Laprise, then fires one back in the Canadian’s direction. Laprise keeps coming forward, has another right high kick blocked and gets pushed back with a straight left hand. Trinaldo steps into the pocket firing and catches Laprise with an overhand left, leaving his chin exposed for Laprise’s counter in the process. Laprise scores with a body-head combo and an inside leg kick before “Massaranduba” floors him with a quick left hand. Trinaldo doesn’t rush in, instead waiting to force Laprise to the canvas and set up on top. Laprise rolls over, giving up his back, and Trinaldo begins unloading with thunderous, left-handed ground-and-pound. Referee Herb Dean is taking a close look, telling Laprise to fight back. Laprise stays belly down, covering his head while Trinaldo continues blasting away until referee Dean waves it off.

The Official Result

Francisco Trinaldo def. Chad Laprise via TKO (Punches) R1 2:43

Patrick Cote vs. Josh Burkman

Round 1

Burkman lands a leg kick to open and gets caught with an overhand right counter from “The Predator.” Switching stances, Burkman lands a hard leg kick from southpaw, then gets caught spinning around and snatched in rear waistlock. Burkman breaks away and catches Cote coming in with a hard counter right. Cote pushes him against the fence, catching a knee to the body from Burkman in the process. Ninety seconds in, Burkman creates space and circles away, then decks Cote with another barrage of punches a few seconds later. Cote drops to his knees, can’t get the takedown and comes back to his feet when Burkman threatens with a guillotine. The welterweights meet back in the middle, now halfway through the opening round. Burkman continues to catch Cote with punches when the Canadian tries to close the distance. Cote catches a leg kick and works to spin Burkman to the ground, but “The People’s Warrior” keeps his balance. Cote briefly puts Burkman on the ground, only to have Burkman spring back up seconds later. Burkman reverses the clinch on the fence, puts a forearm across Cote’s throat. Cote breaks out of the clinch with a cracking left hand that backs Burkman away a few steps. A massive overhand right from Cote lands flush on Burkman’s jaw, but the wobbly Burkman manages to grab hold of Cote long enough to regain his senses and hear the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Cote
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Cote
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Cote

Round 2

Cote flicks out a few leg kicks before swinging a big right hand for Burkman’s head. Burkman dodges it and wheels around with a spinning elbow, dodged by Cote. The Canadian winds up the right hand again, clips Burkman and steps in behind it to clinch on the fence. Burkman shoves Cote away and steps out to the center of the cage, where he chops at Cote’s lead leg with a hard kick inside. Cote measures the distance with an outstretched hand before placing a pair of kicks across Burkman’s midsection and forearms. Suddenly, Burkman steps inside and trips Cote to the ground, landing in side control. Cote works back to his feet quickly, defending a guillotine from Burkman on the way. Burkman lands a knee to the body from the Thai clinch, answered by Cote with a pair of one-twos. Both men connect with overhand rights before Cote shoots for Burkman’s legs near the fence. Burkman hops away on one leg, escaping the takedown attempt with 30 seconds left in the round. Burkman throws a few power shots in the closing moments but can only shrug at Cote as they pull up short.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Burkman
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Cote
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Cote

Round 3

Burkman comes out swinging at the start of the final round, rocking Cote with a few big right hands as he marches the “Predator” backward toward the fence. Cote seems to be on wobbly legs but quickly recovers as Burkman’s assault slows. Cote takes the center of the cage, ducks under a Burkman punch and deliver a nice counter right. Cote double-pumps with a jab and then comes over the top to drill Burkman with a huge overhand right. Burkman hits the ground in a daze, turtling up on his knees as Cote pounces to try and get the finish. Referee Jerin Valel is giving Burkman every chance to recover, standing over the welterweights as Cote continues to bash Burkman’s head with a hailstorm right hands. Burkman is just covering up, not offering anything in return, and referee Valel has seen enough. Patrick Cote becomes the first man to stop Josh Burkman with strikes in Burkman’s 40-fight career.

The Official Result

Patrick Cote def. Josh Burkman via TKO (Punches) R3 1:26

Erick Silva vs. Neil Magny

Round 1

Silva backs up toward the fence and switches between southpaw and orthodox, threatening with a step-in knee when Magny feints a shot. Magny eventually grabs for Silva’s legs and gets shoved away before he can get started on the takedown attempt. Silva swings into the pocket and gets shoved to the ground by Magny, who can’t control the Brazilian on the canvas. Silva scrambles up, grabs hold of Magny and slams him to the ground with a bodylock. Straight to side control on Magny’s left side goes Silva, framing up an arm-triangle choke on the opposite side. Silva stretches out, keeping Magny flattened, and switches to one hand around Magny’s head and one around his left leg. Magny rolls toward Silva, burying his head to prevent a north-south choke and dodge punches at the same time. Magny turns to his knees, grabs Silva’s leg and then switches to a waistlock. Magny drives forward and quickly turns the tables with a takedown of his own, and the American takes full mount inside the final two minutes of the round. Silva bucks him off and scrambles to his feet, Magny still wrapped around his waist as they go to the fence. Magny softens up Silva with short right hands as they fighr on the cage with under a minute remaining. Magny hits another trip takedown and jumps on Silva’s back again to sock him with five or six quick right hands. Referee Yves Lavigne warns Magny to watch the back of the head, and after taking a few more punches, Silva will survive to see round two.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Magny
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Magny
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Magny

Round 2

Magny plucks Silva with a short overhand right to start the round, then sticks his jab in the Brazilian’s face before backing up to the center of the cage. Silva is having trouble finding his range against the longer man, but he does catch Magny with a switch kick on the chest. An overhand left gets through for Silva, answered by one from Magny, who blitzes Silva against the fence with a bunch of punches. A lead uppercut from Magny appears to sting Silva, who tries to counter and only catches air with wild punches. Magny gets spun around with a leg kick but comes right back to deliver a clinch knee. Halfway through the round, Magny taps the chin of Silva with another clean uppercut. Magny tries to rush his man against the fence, comes in too high and gets body-locked, then tripped to the ground. Silva lands in Magny’s guard, where he shucks the American’s legs and tries to pass to the side. As he does, Magny rolls the other way and escapes to his feet with under 90 seconds to go in the round. Magny catches Silva standing up and hugs him against the fence again, switching between a rear waistlock and an underhook on front. They split with 20 seconds on the clock and Magny gets off a right cross behind a blocked knee.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Magny
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Magny

Round 3

Silva counters a Magny leg kick with a left hook, then gives back a low kick of his own. Another pair of leg kicks score for Silva as he chases Magny across the cage. Magny is on his back foot through the first two minutes of the round, surely knowing he’s ahead on the cards and Silva needs to chase after him. Magny ducks under a wide left hand from Silva, grabs a quick clinch and delivers a hard knee to the body. He catches a low kick from Silva and tries to rush him against the cage, but Silva keeps his balance and slips away. A straight right from Magny snaps back the head of Silva, and Magny glances up at the clock on the big screen. Magny lands a right, doubles up with his jab, then continues to flick the jab in Silva’s face. One more takedown goes for Magny with 90 seconds left, but Silva climbs back to his feet and throws Magny over his hip to land on top. They land in the whizzer, allowing Magny to stand again, and now the 170-pounders go back to the fence as the final minute ticks away. They switch positions on the outside, neither man gaining an advantage until Magny finally separates with a knee to the gut. Magny keeps popping Silva with long punches and backpedals as the Brazilian tries to swing for a finish in the last moments.

Max Holloway vs. Charles Oliveira

Round 1

Referee Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for tonight’s featherweight main event, with judges Sal D’Amato, Kevin Dornan and David Therien scoring at cageside. Oliveira takes the center with a high guard and tries to keep Holloway out of range with high kicks. Holloway digs a couple good hooks into Oliveira’s body as he circles the outside, then catches the Brazilian with an uppercut. Oliveira shoots for Holloway’s hips and gets stuffed against the cage, then shoved to the ground. Holloway backs off to allow his opponent to stand, but as soon as Oliveira gets to his feet, he clutches his left shoulder and sits back down on the ground. Holloway rushes in to finish the fight, but Oliveira is clearly injured and referee Dean steps between the featherweights to wave off the contest. It appears Oliveira suffered a neck or shoulder injury during his takedown attempt, giving Max Holloway a first-round stoppage win.
