Top Rank has finally secured an Aug. 31 opponent for their boxing phenom Vasiliy Lomachenko. The Ukrainian will face British southpaw Luke Campbell in a vacant World Boxing Council lightweight title bout.

Lomachenko, who trains out of Oxnard, California, last hit the ropes in April, defeating mandatory challenger Anthony Crolla by KO in the fourth. Also a southpaw, "Hi-Tech" owns two Olympic gold medals in boxing, winning the top prize in both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London games.
Lomachenko-Campbell will take place in the United Kingdom, but a venue has yet to be determined. The showdown for the vacant WBC lightweight belt was at risk of devolving into a purse bid after Top Rank and Matchroom Boxing, who promotes Campbell, were failing to come to terms as the WBC deadline for a finalized bout approached.
An extension to close out the deal was granted by the WBC and now we have our official matchup locked in. As part of the negotiation, the tilt must reside in the UK, which marks the first time since 2014 that "Loma" fights outside of the United States.
