Zabit Magomedsharipov Claims Five Foes Turned Down Potential Bout at UFC 223

Zabit Magomedsharipov seems to be establishing something of a reputation in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The 26-year-old Dagestani began his promotional tenure last year with back-to-back submission victories over Mike Santiago and Sheymon Moraes. Now, Magomedsharipov can’t seem to find an opponent.

The former Absolute Championship Berkut competitor took to Twitter to call out the likes of Myles Jury, Arnold Allen, Yair Rodriguez, Andre Fili and Artem Lobov for turning down a potential bout with him on April 7. According to Magomedsharipov, of those five only Lobov agreed to a fight — only to have his team decline.

“No disrespect to none I just want to fight,” Magomedsharipov wrote.

If Magomedsharipov’s claims are true, it looks like the UFC is interested in giving him a step up in competition for his next Octagon appearance. The target date mentioned by Magomedsharipov would be UFC 223, which takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. and features a lightweight title bout between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Ricardo Almeida Jiu-Jitsu product owns a 14-1 career record, with 12 of those victories coming inside the distance.
