Cris 'Cyborg' Justino to Fight at 145 Pounds in Jan. Says Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp on "Inside MMA"
Dec 5, 2015 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- LOS ANGELES – On a special edition of AXS TV’s
INSIDE MMA tonight dedicated discussing former UFC champion
Ronda
Rousey’s future, Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp joined the
show to discuss Rousey’s impact on women’s MMA and the latest news
from her promotion. During the interview with series hosts Kenny
Rice and Bas Rutten,
Knapp revealed Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Cristiane
Justino will defend her belt at 145 pounds in January, instead
of fighting at the 140-pound mark Justino was previously working
toward.
Said Knapp:
“Cyborg’s next fight will be at 145 pounds. This will be the first
time that she has competed without hydrating herself with an I.V.
So she’s made the decision to go ahead and defend her belt.”
Knapp’s full interview is available here:
UFC fighter Miesha Tate, who has twice fought Rousey, also appeared on tonight’s special and shared her desire to fight newly crowned champion Holly Holm before Rousey is scheduled for a rematch.
Said Tate:
“I don’t think it makes sense to hold up the entire women’s division for nine months. So I figure if Holly [Holm] and I fought each other, it’s a win-win for the UFC.”

Rounding out the special, sports psychologist Ken Baum, who has worked with a number of fighters such as Mark Munoz and Jake Ellenberger, shared his expertise on what Rousey needs to do to recover mentally from her first loss:
Alex Morono (12-3) claimed the Legacy Fighting Championship Welterweight belt, submitting incumbent Derrick Krantz (17-8) with a guillotine choke in the first round and Andrea Lee (4-1) won the promotion’s inaugural women’s flyweight title, submitting her opponent Ariel Beck (3-2) with a third round armbar on AXS TV FIGHTS: LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP 49.
