Main Eventers Using Mikey Rukus Music In Upcoming Bouts

Producer Mikey Rukus has seemingly carved his own niche within the
world of mixed martial arts, creating walkout music for some of the
industry’s elite fighters as well as theme music for top
promotions. Within an 8 day span, proof of Rukus’ hard work and
strengthening relationships with top talent will be on display, as
two main/co-main stars on two of the bigger stages will be using
Mikey Rukus Music as they make their way to the cage prior to their
headlining clashes. On Saturday June 28, Cub Swanson
will take on Jeremy
Stephens at UFC Fight Night in San Antonio, TX. Swanson will be
walking the aisle to an undisclosed “Mikey Rukus Remix”, which will
air live on FOX Sports 1. The following Saturday on July 5th,
Dennis
Hallman, who has stepped up to face Jon Fitch in
the co-main for World Series Of Fighting 11 in Daytona, FL, will be
using a Custom Walkout Song from Rukus for his trek into battle.
WSOF 11 gets the national broadcast treatment on NBC.
Both fighters have worked with the producer before, Swanson commissioning Rukus for track work during his co-main bout versus Dustin Poirier on a 2013 UFC/Fuel TV card, while Hallman, was set to use Mikey Rukus Music in what was to be a UFC bout, but was subsequently halted just prior due to personal reasons for the combatant. The main event entrances are substantial for showcasing Rukus’ work, especially during UFC programming, as goes with televised UFC cards, only the main event walkouts are aired, while entrances on the remainder of the card are replaced with advertising.
After a planned tour launch for Rukus was halted in early 2014,
Mikey began branching out into different areas of sports and
entertainment to capitalize on other projects outside of MMA.
Recently moving into the Obstacle Course Racing industry, Mikey
Rukus became the official host of Bushido Challenge, a samurai
themed OCR, in which he also created theme music for every obstacle
on the course. Rukus also just wrapped work on a project with a pro
wrestling organization out of Kansas City, creating entrance music
for all of the stars within the live event.
“MMA is where I got my start a few years back, and no matter where I go to create music, this will always be my home. This is my first choice and favorite sport, and I will always be willing to work with any fighter or promotion looking to have their story told through customized music.” the producer says.
Rukus himself will be reuniting with his live band for one night on Saturday, July 19 in a special performance at “Sprawl ‘N’ Brawl 2” in Hopewell, VA. The amateur MMA event will be the first of its kind for the small city of Hopewell, which consequently, is Rukus’ hometown. A limited number of tickets remain.
