Weigh-In Results for New England Fights! Fight Night V Event
Nov 17, 2012 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Lewiston, Maine (November 17, 2012) – On Friday,
November 16, New England Fights! (NEF) hosted weigh-ins at Gritty
McDuff's in Auburn, ME for today's Fight Night V event at the
Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine. Despite some minor
changes, the card will proceed today with a total of 16 bouts.
"We had a couple of last-minute pull-outs," stated NEF matchmaker and co-owner Matt Peterson. "Ken Foster was M.I.A. at weigh-ins, so his bantamweight fight with John Parker is off, unfortunately. In addition, I was informed last minute by Tim Tucker that he did not intend on coming to weigh-ins or fighting Tollison Lewis this weekend. Luckily, Andrew Tripp from Team Irish was willing to step in at the eleventh-hour and take the fight with Tollison. Tripp submitted Lewis the first time they met on an NEF card last February, but Tollison has come a long way in his training since then."
With those two amateur bouts changed, it was the possibility of
losing a high-profile double pro debut featuring top-ranked amateur
featherweights Ray Wood and
John
Raio that had everyone on edge.
"Ray came in at 146.6 pounds, six ounces over the one-pound allowance" said NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. "John Raio made weight. He accommodated Ray by agreeing to move forward with the fight at a catch weight, so that fight was saved thanks to John."
