Ciryl Gane had a point to prove.

After suffering a potentially disheartening loss to Jon Jones at UFC 285 in March, Gane bounced back in a big way at UFC Fight Night 226, as he dissected Sergey Spivak in a second-round technical knockout victory at Accor Arena in Paris on Saturday. The Frenchman enjoyed a clear athletic advantage against the plodding Spivak, and with nine victories in 11 UFC appearances since his 2019 debut, the future is still bright for “Bon Gamin.” For now he keeps his No. 3 ranking as a potential showdown with Tom Aspinall looms.

Elsewhere, Manon Fiorot continued her ascent in the women’s flyweight division in the UFC Fight Night 226 co-main event with a three-round verdict against ex-strawweight queen Rose Namajunas. With six consecutive victories to her credit, Fiorot goes to No. 5 in the divisional rankings and joins Erin Blanchfield as intriguing future title contenders at 125 pounds.

In housekeeping news, both Miesha Tate and Alexis Davis exit the women’s bantamweight rankings after reaching their expiration date for inactivity. That allows Nora Cornolle and Tamires Vidal to enter the 135-pound bubble in a perpetually shallow division.
