Jack Hermansson made sure his absence from the rankings was as brief as possible.
One week after getting bumped from Sherdog’s divisional poll in favor of the victorious Nassourdine Imavov, “The Joker” relied on veteran guile to pull away from hyped Dana White's Contender Series prospect Joe Pyfer in the UFC Fight Night 236 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday. Hermansson has experienced mixed results in recent years, but victories in two of his last three Octagon appearances are enough for him to supplant Derek Brunson at No. 15 in the latest 185-pound rankings. In the future, the UFC might think twice about choosing Hermansson as the gatekeeper for one of its prematurely anointed stars.
