Beatdown: Davis, Jackson

TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood were back on the Sherdog Radio Network for another edition of “Beatdown.” Joining them on Friday’s broadcast was UFC veteran Marcus Davis and mixed martial arts trainer Greg Jackson.

Marcus Davis has had a storied career in combat sports. He started out as a pro boxer, worked his way to earning a shot at the UFC through the promotions “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show, and worked his way back to the promotion after being cut. The 39-year old “Irish Hand Grenade” isn’t done yet. Following his release from the UFC the Maine native has put together a 4-1 record and returns to a “big show” next week when he fights for Bellator MMA. Marcus chats with TJ and Jeff about how he got to where he is at today, what life will be like post-mma, and why he feels he his quality of life will be so diminished in older age that he would prefer to die than suffer from an ailment like dementia.

Greg Jackson joined “Beatdown” to chat about a variety of subjects. Fresh back from Japan the trainer talks about why he felt his charge Diego Sanchez won a controversial split-decision over former Pride champion Takanori Gomi. Greg also chats about Carlos Condit’s and Georges St-Pierre’s bouts at UFC 158 next week in Montreal.
