PFL's Chris Wade Found Out about His Next Matchup on Social Media
“The Long Island Killer” was told by a friend about his upcoming fight.
In 2021, Chris Wade (18-6, 6-3 PFL) opted to move down a division after attempting unsuccessfully to claim the Professional Fighters League championship in 2018 and 2019 at lightweight. So far, his decision has worked out, as he most recently captured a unanimous decision from Anthony Dizy at PFL 1. Now, he is scheduled to clash with Arman Ospanov at the upcoming PFL 4 event. Much to Wade’s surprise, the promotion didn’t tell him about the matchup before posting it on the Internet.
“Not only are the fights very close, but they didn’t tell me whom I was fighting until they posted it on the internet,” he told Sherdog. “My friend texted me and said, ‘What’s the deal with this guy you’re fighting?,’ and I was like, ‘What do you mean?,’ and he’s like, ‘Oh, they put it on Instagram, who is this guy? That’s when I found out, and that was only a few weeks ago to tell you the truth. We did our research as much as we possibly could like from that moment on, but it’s one of those things where you try to pick up on a couple of tendencies that they have, but you still want to be yourself and do what you do well.”
