UFC Vet Jose Torres Wants to Honor His Late Father's Memory with Victory at Brave CF 42

At Brave CF 42, Jose Torres (9-1) makes his long-awaited return to the cage following a long hiatus. “Shorty” is taking on Sean Santella (23-7-1) in Brave's flyweight tournament that will crown the first 125-pound champion in Brave Combat Federation’s history.

While talking to Sherdog, “Shorty” explained that he had a lot to deal with in the last couple of years. After becoming a two-division champion in Titan Fighting Championships, Torre signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. In his promotional debut, he scored a highlight-reel KO at the expense of Jarred Brooks at UFC Fight Night 131. His fortune changed after suffering his first defeat when Alex Perez rendered him unconscious at UFC 227. Shortly after, the UFC cut him. Torres signed with Brave, where he bounced back on track thanks to a unanimous decision victory over Amir Albazi at Brave CF 23.

A few months after his promotional debut, Torres’ father passed away. At the time, he was scheduled to clash with Marcel Adur for the inaugural 125-pound title at Brave CF 29, but he pulled out of the fight after experiencing panic attacks. He also revealed that he struggled a lot with his mental health issues, but now he feels into the right place to compete in the tournament. His goal is to dedicate a victory to his father's memory and to prove that he is one of the best flyweights in the world once again.
